Zoey Chu, MS, is a Certified Counselor at Collision Counseling who is passionate about helping clients heal from trauma, rebuild emotional safety, and reconnect with their inner strengths. Her approach is warm, steady, and collaborative, rooted in deep cultural sensitivity and an understanding that healing unfolds differently for every person.
Zoey’s clinical work draws from evidence-based approaches, including CBT, EMDR-informed strategies, and mindfulness-based regulation skills to support clients navigating anxiety, stress responses, and post-accident recovery. She helps clients understand their nervous system, restore a sense of safety, and develop coping skills that feel sustainable and empowering. Zoey strives to create a therapeutic space where clients feel seen, supported, and grounded as they move toward greater regulation and resilience.
As a bilingual clinician (English and Mandarin) with lived experience as an immigrant from Taiwan, Zoey is deeply committed to culturally responsive care. She brings a nuanced understanding of identity, transition, and belonging, and is honored to support clients from diverse backgrounds and life experiences.
Alongside her clinical practice, Zoey is actively involved in research at the University of Washington that explores how people heal from pain and trauma. Her work includes NIH-funded studies on music, mindfulness-based approaches, CBT, and hypnotic analgesia for pain and emotional regulation. She also contributes to research on mental health service utilization, including a statewide SCI firearm injury study examining how individuals access care and recover psychologically after traumatic injuries. This research background enriches Zoey’s therapeutic perspective and allows her to weave evidence-based understanding gently and effectively into her clinical work.
Zoey earned her M.S. in Research Psychology from Seattle Pacific University and brings a strong foundation in health psychology, behavioral science, and trauma recovery to her practice. She is dedicated to helping clients feel understood, supported, and empowered as they move toward greater emotional clarity, resilience, and wellbeing.
